40tude Time consists of 5 application components
Clock, Synchronizer, Wallpaper, Calendar and Screensaver

The Clock

The central application in 40tude Time is the clock, located either in the Windows tray or if you have a multiline taskbar below the Windows start button, using otherwise unused space. The clock as shown below indicates the current date and the local time.

Clicking on the clock cycles through the current times in other timezones, as defined in the clock options. Up to 9 locations and there timezones can be set there. The image on the left shows the cycle for the local time and two remote locations.
Additionally, the hint window that pops up when the mouse is hovering over the clock, shows the current date and the times at all locations.

The Synchronizer

The time synchronizer gets the current time and date from an Internet timeserver and corrects your computers system time.

The synchronizer has an automatic mode, that automatically gets and sets the time silently in the background in intervals. Further it has a "Sort servers by reply time" function that makes sure that servers with the quickest shortest reply delay are used to get the maximum precision possible.

The Wallpaper

The 40tude Time wallpaper is used as a dynamic Windows desktop wallpaper and in the 40tude Time screensaver. It shows the illumination of the earth on a specific date at a specific time as a high resolution, photo-realistic, satellite image.

The day and night imagery is licensed for use in 40tude Time from The Living Earth, Inc.. For more information about their imagery and products, please visit their beautiful website: www.livingearth.com.

You can specify a number of options for the rendering of the image, e.g the latitude and longitude of the center of the image and the date and time. The autoupdate option automatically renders a new image in intervals and refreshes the desktop, enhancing the static Windows desktop to a dynamic view of the earth.

The Calendar

The calendar supplies information about holidays in countries around the world. For a selected date all countries that have a holiday on this date are shown together with the name of the holiday.

40tude Time comes with data about holidays for the years 1999 to 2001. The data was collected from various sources and data from different sources was compared to each other, however the correctness of all data can not be guaranteed.

The Screensaver

The 40tude Time screensaver utilizes the rendered photo-realistic, satellite image showing the current illumination of earth and scrolls it. Again, there is an autoupdate option that automatically renders a new image in intervals.
